Kids Against Hunger
Let the fun begin! Here are just a few activities and clubs for members.
Coffee Social
Are you considering joining Newcomers? Welcome Coffees are hosted at members' homes on the first Wednesday of each month from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The host provides coffee, tea and light refreshments. Our members extend a warm welcome and are great resources for those new to the area. Get acquainted and foster friendships at this informal gathering. Send an email to [email protected] to request upcoming dates and locations.
Luncheons
The "Lunch Bunch" on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at a local restaurant. Speakers are often invited. Eat, visit, chat, meet new friends, and sometimes visit a local place of interest or see a movie.
Special Activities and Socials
Activities and outings are planned throughout the year. Enjoy meeting friends - old and new. Our board and activity group leaders plan socials at members' homes, Holiday get-togethers, day trips, classes, movies, shopping, bowling, crafts, museums, games, a Halloween and a White Elephant Social, and more! Spring Event
New events are planned annually. Gardening with presentations by a local nursery, Flower Arranging, a day trip and picnic at Filoli - these are a few past Spring Events that were planned for our members.
Bocce - Twice monthly on Thursday mornings at Castlewood Country Club.
Book Club
Meet every 4th Wednesday morning at a member’s home. The group selects a new book to read and discuss each month.
Bunco
Playing Bunco is just part of the fun! Meet new friends, socialize, eat, drink, laugh, and of course play Bunco too. Three separate groups play throughout the week.
Day Trips and Special Activities
Members explore places of interest throughout the Bay Area and beyond....museums, plays and performances, wineries, parks, movies, happy hours, tours --- and more!
Hiking & Walking Groups
Downtown Walkers meet on Mondays at 8:55 am in downtown Pleasanton and walk for one hour.
Hiking around the Bay Area is wonderful. Sunol Wilderness, the Pleasanton Ridge and Preserve, Las Trampas, Del Valle, and Mt Diablo, Castro Valley and Oakland - these are a few places we have hiked. We also travel to the other side of the Bay, and an occasional city walk - Berkeley, San Francisco, Oakland, etc. Hikes are easy to moderate,
and generally two to three hours. Join the group every Fridays, or just come hike once in a while.
Wine Club
Attention wine sippers, tasters, connoisseurs, collectors, and all! Enjoy tastings, wine and dine, winery visits, day trips, evening get togethers, and more with your Newcomer friends.
Cards --- Members meet monthly to play Hand and Foot (a card game similar to Canasta)
Mahjong --- Our very active and fun Mahjong Mavens meet weekly at a members' home.
